"Oh Lord,
Don't let us become so involved and happily preoccupied with our internal concerns that we over look the main purpose for our existence service and good government for our community."

The Commonwealth Club supports Community Lodgings' Youth Education Program for homeless and at risk neighborhood children in Alexandria. The program's focus is "self-help and life improvement." Each year Commonwealth members collect books for children in the program and present them to the director. In 2009 we presented Bonnie Baxley, Community Lodgings Executive Director, with 90 books chosen to appeal to teenage boys.
